Yiannis Ioannides

Composer | Sound Designer

My name is Yiannis Ioannides. I am a senior student in Berklee College of Music, studying Electronic Production and Design.

I like composing music for anything beautiful out there, like video games, film, animation, jingle etc.

My specialty is creating a personal middleware environment for dynamic/adaptive audio for video games, built on MAX/MSP, so everyone get to have their own personalized audio system for their game.

On my free time, I like walking out with my girlfriend, cooking, studying architecture, interior design and graphic design, programming, as well as, playing music with friends. I play guitar, piano, bass, the erhu and I speak Greek, English and French.

And a lot of other things. Just ask!

  • Electronic Music

    • Irasshaimase

A glitchy sample-based acid jazz / house track, inspired by artists like Cubesato and Fantastic Plastic Machine.

    • Mizuwari

An lounge track I made back in 2010, inspired by Gran Turismo composer, Isamu Ohira and Sonar Kollektiv artists.

    • _yi.β‚‚

A dub techno track I made, inspired by minimal and glitchy experimental dub techno artists like Jan Jelinek (also known as Farben or Gramm), Pole, Lazzich etc. and I used some glitch samples that I have made in the past.

  • Production Mix Drafts

    • Metal - Future Metal #1

My first metal mix I ever did with electronics, while trying some new mixing techniques for this genre. Nothing special to be mentioned here, mostly for reference.

    • Metal - Future Metal #2

Again, trying some new metal recording and mixing techniques, with some new sound libraries and an electric guitar this time.

  • Video Game Compositions

    • Electronic - Fly In My Dreams

One of the first video game compositions I wrote back in 2005-2006. Inspired by Sonic R's soundtrack, made by Richard Jacques. Special contribution by fellow composer, Gael Brulin.

    • Minimal - A Mountain's Ritual

I composed that piece in 2009 while on a trip to Kyoto, Japan, being very inspired by the locals and their kindness. Sets the mood for a celestrial moment in a game.

    • Minimal - Solitude (Going Back Home)

A simple, minimal composition. Imagine being alone on an endless green plain by twilight. That's what this composition is about.

    • Minimal - Untitled #1

The first of three compositions of an upcoming art game. Programmed/composed in Max/MSP and mixed in Logic. For more info on the making of this soundtrack, see Videos section.

    • Minimal - Untitled #2

The second of three compositions of an upcoming art game. Programmed/composed in Max/MSP and mixed in Logic. For more info on the making of this soundtrack, see Videos section.

    • Minimal - Untitled #3

The final of three interpretive compositions of an upcoming art game. This was linearly composed, with an acoustic guitar, piano and live recording processing. For more info on the making of this soundtrack, see Videos section.

    • Orchestral - Fight For Justice

This is an orchestral rock piece I wrote on Logic Pro 9, setting the mood for when the main characters are preparing for the big battle/event for a J-RPG game.

    • Orchestral - Intro of "Dream Bubble"

Theis is the opening theme of a short animation film called "Dream Bubble" by William Hutchinson and set to be released in 2012.

  • Videos

    • A Jitter Project

This is for a Berklee class I took, called EP-426 Interactive Video Programming and Performance, and the goal for this project is to make a short QT movie-based performance. This is a performance that plays on its own for about 2 minutes.

    • Intro to "Dream Bubble"

A teaser of a short animation film that I worked with, made by William Hutchinson, and set to be released in late 2012.

    • Probability-based Audio Sample Drum Machine

The goal for this patch is to have an all-purpose randomizer drum machine for people to jam with, either for backing tracks, or for actual recordings. You can the patch here.

    • Untitled #1

This is a screencast I made while creating the first of three composition for an upcoming art game. Programmed in Max/MSP and mixed/mastered in Logic.

    • Untitled #2

This is a screencast I made while creating the second of three compositions for an upcoming art game. Programmed in Max/MSP and mixed/mastered in Logic.
